Once past the initial screening process, the applicant is requested to perform various written tests (logic, ‘problem solving’, and so forth). These exams focus on analytical skills as well as general business acumen.
For example, the McKinsey PST examines how the applicant analyzes data and reaches business decisions under time circumstances. The candidate needs to be able to quickly understand a business situation, which will include graphs and tables, and quickly provide accurate calculation to solve multiple-part problems. Since the applicant has only 60-70 minutes for the entire exam (3 cases with 26 questions) – time management is very important.
